Rules & Regulations

ELIGILIBITY:

Please submit your entry only in your appropriate category as an ASID Professional, Allied, Associate, Affiliate, Industry Partner, or Student Member.

Your membership must be in good standing with the ASID CA OC Chapter, membership in another chapter or non-member entries will not be accepted.

Submissions will be open from June 3, 2024 until noon on July 31, 2024.

Extensions for incomplete entries will not be available.
Submissions must be completed during this time frame to be eligible for entry.

All submissions must be entered through this website.
No late entries or hard copy entries will be accepted.

Submissions should not have been previously entered in the ASID OC Design Awards Competition.
Projects should have been completed between June 1, 2022 through June 1, 2024.

PRICING

Early Bird Pricing - Submissions must be competed by June 24, 2024

$ 150.00 for first submission

$ 75.00 for subsequent submissions

$ 50.00 for Student Entries

Multiple Entry discount will show on check out screen.

Regular Pricing for submissions after June 25, 2024

$ 175.00 for first submission

$ 100.00 for subsequent submissions

$ 75.00 for Student Entries

Multiple Entry discount will show on check out screen.

SUBMISSIONS

The Designer must have permission from the Client to submit project images for publication.

You may enter as many categories as you wish and submit multiple projects to a single category.

If a project is submitted to an inappropriate category, ASID CA OC reserves the right to place it in the most appropriate category and/or disqualify any entry when deemed necessary.

Submissions from a Design House or similar may be entered in any appropriate category.

Designs may be located anywhere but must be original and complete designs, renderings or digitally created designs will not be accepted.

If entry submission is not complete by the contest deadline, the participant is not eligible for a refund.

Entrant must provide ASID OC Member ID - membership will be verified prior to judging and must be in good standing to win. 

DIGITAL REQUIREMENTS*

This web application will only accept file types JPG/PNG/PDF, and a maximum of 10MB file size per image. (LOW RES- not High Res-print ready size files).

Project Photos, including before photos and floorplans: minimum of 3- maximum of 15 (You choose the photos you feel will best represent your entry- no before/after or floor plan is required unless specified)

Professional Color Headshot: 1 photo required (entries without a Headshot will be disqualified)

Remove designer, client name, logo, and/or watermarks from any photography submitted. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification of the entry. (Commercial project signage is acceptable if part of overall design)

*HIGH RES PHOTO REQUIREMENTS FOR WINNING ENTRIES

One high res digital photo from the project and one high res digital headshot will be required of winning projects to be used for magazine publication. 

 

SCORING CRITERIA AND POSSIBLE POINTS

Residential and Commercial Design Categories

10 Points per category (100 points total)

1 for lowest to 10 for highest rating in each.

  • Effective Design Concept
  • Effective Explanation of Goal/Challenges/Resolutions
  • Quality of and Clarity of Presentation (easy to understand, complete & concise)
  • Overall Design Meets Stated Goals and Challenges (Solutions Appropriate to the Stated Design Statement)
  • Creative Use of Space
  • Functional Use of Space
  • Scale and Proportion
  • Color Scheme and Composition (Overall visual appeal)
  • Functional Use of Materials
  • Creative Use of Materials

Industry Partner Entry Criteria

10 Points per category (50 points total)

1 for lowest to 10 for highest rating in each.

  • Effective Design Concept
  • Quality of and Clarity of Presentation (easy to understand, complete & concise)
  • Scale and Proportion
  • Color Scheme and Composition (Overall visual appeal)
  • Creative Use of Materials

Student Design Criteria           

10 Points per category (80 points total)

1 for lowest to 10 for highest rating in each.

  • Effective Design Concept
  • Effective Explanation of Goal/Challenges/Resolutions
  • Quality of and Clarity of Presentation (easy to understand, complete & concise)
  • Overall Design Meets Stated Goals and Challenges (Solutions Appropriate to the Stated Design Statement)
